MARTINSVILLE – Martinsville City Public Schools are buzzing after word recently broke that an anonymous donor gave approximately $95,000 to the school system’s Endowment Fund.
Used to purchase items that state dollars can’t buy, the Endowment Fund helps teachers and other school employees make purchases that they believe will enhance the students’ learning environment.
With no limit on the amount of grant money an educator may request, the fund helps bring teachers’ visions to life every year.
“That’s really awesome,” Aji Dixon, principal at Martinsville High School, said. “It’s great to know that people in the community believe in the kids, the teachers, the staff.”
The largest single amount in the history of the decade-long endowment fund, the $95,000 donation pleasantly surprised educators across the city.
