MARTINSVILLE – Enrollment at the New College Institute (NCI) seems to be increasing.

Sixty-two students are enrolled in degree programs for the fall semester. That is up from 59 enrolled for the entire 2016-17 academic year that ended in June, Executive Director Leanna Blevins said, citing preliminary statistics.

There are signs that enrollment in programs awarding other types of credentials – such as certificates and endorsements in particular courses of study – is increasing, too.

A total of 182 students were enrolled in such programs over the course of the past academic year. For the current semester alone, 140 are enrolled, Blevins said, adding she believes that number will increase.
