The Harvest Foundation is thrilled to announce that Latala Payne Hodges of Martinsville has been hired as the Foundation's Director of Communications/Grants Administration. In her position, Hodges will manage the Foundation's grants process and plan and execute the Foundation's communications activities.
Says Foundation President, Allyson Rothrock, "We couldn't be more excited about having Latala join our team. She has just the right mix of skills and experience to coordinate our grants administration process and communications program and help us make both critical areas of our work even stronger."
“I’m so honored to be given this opportunity by the Harvest Foundation. The foundation does so many great things in the community for not only local organizations but also our citizens,” Hodges said.
Prior to joining Harvest, Hodges was a Communications Specialist at Patrick Henry Community College, and a Copy Editor at the Martinsville Bulletin. Her previous employment also includes serving as a reporter for several media sources, including the Rockingham County (NC) Newsgroup, the Capital News Service of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and The Voice Newspaper in Richmond. She was also a Development Assistant at VCU. In 2014, Hodges received four Virginia Community Colleges Association Excellence in Communications Awards. Hodges graduated from VCU in 2009 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications/Print Journalism and a Minor in Psychology.
She is a volunteer for Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia and the United Way Day of Service Campaign and is a member of the Virginia Community Colleges Association and the Virginia Commonwealth University Alumni Association.
She and her husband, Ryan Hodges, live in Martinsville. Hodges is the daughter of Wanda Deering of Axton and father Lynn Payne of Tuscon, Ariz., and she has five brothers and sisters.
