MARTINSVILLE – United Way of Henry County & Martinsville is recruiting volunteers for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
Volunteers are needed for the 2017 tax season to staff VITA sites and various mobile locations in the Martinsville and Henry County area. According to a news release from the United Way, volunteers will welcome customers, conduct client intake and coordinate other services afforded to the public through the tax sites. Those services include financial education seminars, opening bank accounts and credit reporting.
The United Way coordinates the VITA program for the HOPE Coalition and the Internal Revenue Service in Martinsville and Henry County. The coalition is composed of organizations and individuals from federal, state and city governments, community social service agencies, businesses, banks, universities and professional associations.
