MARTINSVILLE – Zeb Talley is set to lead the city’s public schools on a permanent basis.

Talley, a 40-year veteran of the school division, has been serving as interim superintendent since mid-July. The Martinsville School Board on Tuesday voted unanimously to offer him a minimum two-year contract for the job.

The vote came following an hour-long closed session held to discuss a personnel matter and legal issues. Vice Chairman Lawrence Mitchell made the motion to offer Talley the contract. Donna Dillard, the board’s newest member who took her seat in September, seconded the motion.

Talley did not participate in the closed session.
