Fourteen Henry County schools are fully accredited and the district was one of 59 districts in the state that made AYP.  Recently, six Henry County schools received certificates from the Virginia Board of Education. John Redd Smith Elementary, Rich Acres Elementary, and Sanville Elementary earned the Board of Education's VIP Excellence Award, and Bassett High, Carver Elementary, and Ridgeway Elementary received the Board of Education's Competence to Excellence Award.
