Martinsville Bulletin: NCI search stalls

The recruitment of a new executive director for the New College Institute (NCI) has stalled, eight months after former state senator William Wampler left the post.

A search committee hoped to have three quality candidates to present to the institute’s board by now but does not, according to retired Magna Vista High School principal Gracie Agnew, who is chairwoman of both panels.

“No one is under consideration” for the post right now, another committee member, Patrick Henry Community College President Angeline Godwin, said to her understanding.

In January, Agnew said the committee was seriously considering two people and in the process of scheduling second interviews with them, but she would not identify the candidates or say where they work.
